Delphine Vanden Berghe
Assistant – PhD candidate
Status
My name is Delphine Vanden Berghe, and since October 2025 I am grateful to be part of the Stuttering Research Group as an assistant and PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kurt Eggers.
Research
In my PhD project ‘Speech under Time pressure: Exploring Emotions, Psychophysiology, and Stress in Stuttering’, I will investigate how adults who stutter and those who do not stutter experience different forms of time pressure. One of the main goals of my research is to investigate if and how temperament plays a role in emotional and or behavioral responses to time pressure. By studying the interaction between temperament, emotional regulation, and time pressure, I hope to contribute to more refined and personalized treatment strategies.
Background information
In 2025, I obtained my Master of Science in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at Ghent University. From my very first courses on stuttering, I was fascinated by the many unanswered questions. This curiosity motivated me to dedicate my master’s thesis to the topic and to engage in international conferences on disfluency. I also had the opportunity to work as a student research assistant within the Stuttering Research Group, an experience that not only deepened my knowledge, but also confirmed my eagerness to continue in research.
